Where it all started... Cinder

While we’re excited to share our breeding line with you (as this is most likely what you’re here for), we cannot help but to start with where this all began.  Our first PWD, and the namesake of our kennel registration, was a wonderful, mostly black pup named Cinder.  She quickly became the darling of the entire family, and despite so many years with so many other breeds of dogs, Cinder really captured our hearts in a way we didn't know was possible.  We never had a dog so personable, so attached, so loving, and so intelligent as her, and it was a completely new and very much welcome experience for our family.  We loved her so much that we broke our family standard, and bought yet another puppy, India Ink.  Unfortunately, we lost Cinder in an unfortunate accident while India was still young.  The void that left behind has given us decades of joy as breeders of PWDs, and has allowed us to help spread the love, warmth, dedication, and absolute joy that that Cinder filled our own home with.  She was our first, and she is far from our last.  Rest in peace, sweet girl.  We still love and appreciate you very much.

Our Gen 4 PWD family

Hera (pictured above) is a wavy black parti coat.  Bali and Jack’s daughter, and older sister to Athena, Hera was born October 29th, 2022, and comes from Jack’s second-to-last litter.  She’s got her father’s larger size genetics, and averages 60 lbs.

With family, she is a calm, gentle soul, quiet and reserved but always wanting a cuddle.  Out of the house, she enjoys going on long walks and exploring all the world has to offer - while keeping an eye on where I am, just in case.  She is a faithful, loving shadow, and she has been wanting to have puppies for quite some time now.  Two of her three underaged heats resulted in false pregnancies, and even without those hormones Hera is always the dog who will claim the pillow next to mine, bury her nose under the blankets, find my hand, and with the most tender force pull it up and out, pin my wrist between her paws, and start cleaning the webbing between thumb and forefinger as though it were a newborn puppy needing to be pottied…  She is a very loving and protective little lady, and sometimes that can include some barking over people being at the door as well.  The entire house knows when we have company!

Athena (pictured above) is a wavy black parti coat.  Bali and Jack’s daughter, and younger sister to Hera, Athena was born November 10th, 2023, and was from Jack’s last litter.  She has her mother’s petite size genetics, and averages 45 lbs.

Athena is my biggest cuddler.  All of my dogs enjoy it, but she is an avid fan of lap time.  Her favorite position is bottom in lap, and falling asleep listening to someone’s heartbeat, her head just under a chin.  That said, she’s also my wild child, and is still 100% puppy (at two years old).  This works very well for Zeus, the two of them wild as can be and loving every moment of it any chance they get.  Athena always has an ear out for mom, though, and has excellent recall, always happy to be standing nearby.  She (and Zeus) look up to Hera very much, and models some of her protective behaviors, but tend to warm up to strangers much faster.  Athena is my girl who, if I’m sleeping on my side on the edge of the bed, will billy goat walk on the scant edge of mattress available, tuck her nose in under my arm, and nuzzle her way in for early morning kisses and petting.  She also knows how to find the ‘blanket monster,’ and will immediately start to follow my shoulder all the way to my hand under the blanket, I have to mix it up sometimes just to throw her off the trail, and even then she’s wickedly clever for finding my hand and ‘chewing’ on my fingers with her little play growls.

Zeus (pictured above) is a brown coat wavy male.  Hailing from a healthy line unrelated to Hera and Athena, Zeus was born on June 14th, 2024.  He is on the petite side of PWD genetics, averaging 50 lbs, and should throw a mix of petite and large pups with Hera, and mostly/all petite with Athena.  As a mostly solid brown male, with Hera and Athena being 50/50 for their own parents (Bali being black, and Jack being brown), their puppies will be a mix of black and brown, and a mix of solid and parti coats.

Zeus is addicted to good times.  He’s always got a toy in his mouth, wants to be the first one bursting out into the next adventure, and gives other dogs a thorough run for their money when it comes to running laps.  Typical for a male, he was a dream to potty train, and is wickedly smart – including with knowing when he can maybe get away with doing something he knows he shouldn’t.  He is a pushy little love bug, and was actually the one who taught Athena how to burrow under my arm, despite him being younger than her.  Zeus is the sort of boy who can go from full go-go-go to calm and quiet if the situation demands it.  He is a loyal little lad, and fits right in with his ladies as a happy family pack.
